When I first started this work, I was not as happy as I am now … We did not have much financial support; we were only five people in the family. The dream looked so big. We thought we might not be successful. But [with] the initial hard work … and with the good leadership of Dr. V, we were able to achieve it … I am very proud. We have restored sight to millions of people, and that is a good thing. And I am very proud by the way we do things—the way the Aravind Hospital works, which is very unique.
